Advanced lenses overview
At Alien Photonics we classify advanced lenses as secialized optical elements designed for applications where standard spherical lenses are not sufficient. Axicons (conical lenses) transform Gaussian beams into ring-shaped or Bessel-like beam profiles and are commonly used in laser materials processing, beam shaping, and extended depth-of-focus applications. Aspherical lenses feature non-spherical surface profiles that reduce spherical aberration and improve focusing performance. They enable compact optical designs with higher image quality and better wavefront control compared to conventional spherical lenses.
